Erni Rosita Dewi, an Indonesian midwife, holds a midwifery postgraduate degree awarded through the UK government’s Chevening Scholarship for future global leaders. With over 5 years of clinical and research experience in women’s and children’s health, Erni has led impactful projects. She collaborated with a research team analysing maternal mortality data in East Java, partnering with health departments from multiple provinces. As leader of Ruang Bidan Indonesia, she spearheads one of Indonesia’s largest midwifery communities, established during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Erni’s leadership extends beyond Indonesia. She led the Indonesian delegation to the YSEALI Regional Workshop on “Enhancing ASEAN Human Capital in Health,” winning project grant funding for her team proposal, the ARFAT Project. The initiative aims to raise awareness of sexual and reproductive health among marginalised women and adolescents in Timor-Leste. Moreover, Erni’s passion for maternal and child health was further fueled by her experience exploring the UK maternity system with the NHS Mid-South Essex Foundation. In 2024, she co-founded “Sekolah Perinatal Indonesia (SEPIA)” with three fellow Indonesian midwives, which aims to empower women during their perinatal period through virtual classes and support networks.
